S T R A T E G I C P L A N T I M E L I N E W I N T E R 2 0 1 4 Conducted SAIS community survey of all constituents to gauge perception on a wide variety of school-related topics and provide data for use by the interim leadership team. Areas identified as strong included community, faculty, and program. Areas identified as needing improvement were diversity and affordability. Leadership team began work on the mission and core beliefs under direction of the board. Board-led committees of staff and faculty began discussions on how to address areas needing improvement. S U M M E R 2 0 1 4 The school contracted with Ian Symmonds and Associates to direct a full strategic planning process. Extensive data was collected from CDS families, alumni, and faculty/staff, to target areas of strength and bring to light areas for improvement. The results echoed input received from the winter SAIS survey, and provided more detail. Strengths included: innovative teaching, close-knit community, teacher-student relationships, and challenging academics. Areas of opportunity included diversity, affordability, financial sustainability, and facilities improvement. F A L L 2 0 1 5 The school published its strategic goals and action plans, and rolled out a mission statement and nine core beliefs. W I N T E R 2 0 1 6 Work teams of faculty, staff, and administrators were assembled to create three-year tactical plans, to begin implementation in school year 2016-17. S P R I N G 2 0 1 6 CDS conducted SAIS community survey of all constituents to gauge perception and understanding of the strategic plan; results were positive. F A L L 2 0 1 6 Faculty and staff work teams began implementation of year-one tactics. W I N T E R 2 0 1 7 The diversity survey was completed, analyzed and shared with the community. S P R I N G 2 0 1 7 Year-one results were published and distributed.
